ABACE 2017 to open in Shanghai

The sixth Asian Business Aviation Conference and Exhibition (ABACE) 2017 is to open at the business aviation base of Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport on April 11.

The ABACE is sponsored by National Business Aviation Association (NBAA), Shanghai Airport Authority (SAA), Asian Business Aviation Association (AsBAA).

The exhibition will attract more than 170 companies from home and abroad. Thousands of leaders, entrepreneurs and staff working in the business aviation industry from over 40 countries and regions are expected to take part in the event.

“Business aviation is prospering in Asian, just like the development of ABACE, which means that this industry is becoming more and more important in China, Asian-Pacific region and even the whole world,” said Ed Bolen, CEO of NBAA.

The up-and-up infrastructure of business aviation in China is a significant theme of the exhibition, with a seminar on business aviation development to be held on the first day.

Based on the importance of general and business aviation to economic development, the Chinese government is taking positive measures to boost the industry.

The Chinese government expects to build 200 new general aviation airports, own more than 5,000 general aviation aircraft and employe 7,000 general aviation pilots by 2020.

Thirty-five aircraft will be displayed in the exhibition, including HondaJet which will be exhibited for the first time in China.


NBAA:

The National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) is a non-profit and nonpartisan corporation and advocacy group based in Washington, DC, United States. The association represents more than 11,000 companies. Founded in 1947, the NBAA is an industry organization representing companies that rely on general aviation aircraft. The Association provides more than 100 products and services to the business aviation community. NBAA aims to create an environment that fosters business aviation in the United States and around the world.


AsBAA:

Asian Business Aviation Association (AsBAA) is a non-profit corporation based in Hong Kong. AsBAA aims to promote the overall development of business aviation in Asian regions. It co-hosts the annual Asian based ABACE show together with NBAA in the month of April at the Shanghai Hongqiao Airport, China. AsBAA also hosts an annual awards & charity gala event in association with Orbis Charity, typically held every November.


SAA:

Shanghai Airport Authority (SAA) was established in 1998. It is a state-owned enterprise directly under the leadership of Shanghai Municipal Government, and operates both Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG) and Hongqiao International Airport (SHA). SAA aims to make Shanghai airports the most attractive core air hub in the Asia-Pacific region. At present, Shanghai has four airport terminals and six airstrips, 150 domestic connections and 132 intl & regional (HK and Macao) connections. The annual passenger volume of PVG and SHA reached 100 million in 2016. After London, New York, Tokyo and Atlanta, Shanghai is the fifth member of 100-million-level aviation city club in the world. Cargo volume at PVG has ranked third in the world for the past nine years.
